A US military operation has resulted in the deaths of two people accused of drug trafficking. The Department of Defense announced that US forces struck a vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing the two individuals. This is the first such attack to be announced in about two months.

The strike is part of a nearly yearlong campaign targeting boats allegedly involved in drug trafficking. The total death toll from this campaign now exceeds 210, following more than 60 strikes.

Further details about the operation are available from the Department of Defense and US Southern Command, which reported the strike on social media.
