A student at an elementary school was found to have a firearm in their backpack. The discovery was made after another student reported the incident to school police. No injuries were reported and the child did not make any threats.
The child was removed from the campus and the district is urging parents to speak with their children about school safety. Families are being encouraged to discuss the dangers of bringing prohibited items to school.
