A short-range ballistic missile was launched by North Korea toward the sea, according to South Korea's military. The launch originated from the Wonsan area on North Korea's east coast. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff detected the launch and subsequently strengthened surveillance.

They are working closely with the US and Japan. Japan's Defense Ministry also reported the possible ballistic missile launch, but noted no impact in or around Japan. Further details on this incident are available from KSAT 12's source.

The launch is part of a series of weapons tests conducted by North Korea this year, amid efforts to expand its nuclear and missile capabilities.
