A new world record has been set in the women's 50-meter freestyle. The record was lowered by Kate Douglass, who completed the race in 23.19 seconds at the Pan Pacific Championships. This is the second time she has broken her own record in this event.

Douglass, a 24-year-old American, initially took the record from teammate Gretchen Walsh in the morning preliminaries with a time of 23.49 seconds. Walsh had previously held the record with a time of 23.55 seconds. Further details about the Pan Pacific Championships and Kate Douglass's achievements are available from KSAT 12.

The championships also featured other events, including the 200 breaststroke, in which Douglass finished second behind Alexanne Lepage of Canada.
